The Story Behind Subcutaneous S’mores™
S’mores have always been one of my favorite campfire treats because every bite is made up of delicious layers. As a firefighter and MedEvac Flight Paramedic, those layers reminded me of the layers of skin we studied throughout our medical training—including the subcutaneous layer.
That connection inspired the name Subcutaneous S’mores™.

My daughter, Lily, helped bring this coffee to life by designing the custom bag artwork and hand-drawing the smiling s’mores character.
It remains one of my favorite Firehouse Coffee bags because it combines our family’s creativity with a meaningful tribute to the healthcare professionals who care for others.

Subcutaneous S’mores™ is dedicated to the physicians, nurses, therapists, paramedics, and support staff who care for burn patients.
Their compassion, skill, and commitment help patients and families through some of the most difficult days of their lives. This coffee is our small way of recognizing everything they do.
Firehouse Coffee is owned by Mike Adams, a retired firefighter and MedEvac flight paramedic with over 40 years of service. Every small batch comes from our Maxatawny, Pennsylvania roastery. Meet Mike.
